Remembrance Day Thank You
Staplehurst Parish Council
It was heartwarming to see so many of you out lining the route of the Parade or joining in. We were particularly impressed with the air of calm and how respectful everyone seemed this year.
To those of you who were still on the road when we needed to let the ambulance through, thank you for listening to the Parade Marshals and acting so promptly. It is a condition of the road closure permission from Maidstone Borough Council that emergency service vehicles have right of passage regardless of the closure. We plan for such events and fortunately we don’t need to implement this very often.
We are grateful for the continued support of Staplehurst Scout Group, Girlguiding Staplehurst, Staplehurst Trefoil Guild, Staplehurst Monarchs, the Parish Office. Thank you all for your dedication to the Parade.
As with all such events, they do not happen without a seemingly invisible team of people. I am incredibly proud to be part of just such a group who year after year volunteer to be part of the road closure team.
They all bring their own skills, and give up their time without hesitation. It takes a special kind of person to volunteer to stand in the road, lead the parade or to act as first aider at a large event. They take the safety of the Parade participants extremely seriously and we continue to refine and improve the plans and systems we have in place. ‘Thank you’ doesn’t seem enough.
We look forward to seeing you all again next year.
